Ram previews Ford Ranger-sized electric ute – report
Stellantis has reportedly shown off a Ford Ranger-sized electric pickup concept slantingly a Ram 1500 REV and a next-generation Dodge Durango SUV concept at a dealer priming in Las Vegas.
As reported by Automotive News, this Ram mid-sized electric pickup concept is said to squint similar to the wild 1500 Revolution concept that was revealed at this year’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in January.
Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram owner Randy Dye told Automotive News he thought the mid-size electric pickup concept was “spectacular”.

“We’re going to be when in that [mid-size] game,” said Mr Dye.
“Without a doubt, it looks like a Ram. I squint at some of the other mid-size offerings in the market, and I’m not going to pick on the individual brands, but I don’t think they unchangingly favour their mother brand.”
“The mid-size ones have seemed to get away, and they don’t squint the same. This is very much a Ram,” he added.
Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. had said last September that the brand would unveil a mid-sized pickup concept to its dealers this month.
Neither official details nor images have come out of the dealer event.
STLA Large-based Ram
Last year Stellantis teased in wireframe a new mid-sized electric pickup among a squadron of vehicles on the new STLA Large platform for the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands.
Such a model would slot in under the STLA Frame-based Ram 1500 REV, which is set to be introduced in the US in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Vehicles on the STLA Large tracery will offer 400V or 800V electrical architectures and shower packs measuring 101 to 118kWh.
They’ll offer up to 800km of range, and full-length both single- and dual-electric motor powertrain set-ups.

Ram last offered a vehicle in the mid-size segment in North America with the Ram (née Dodge) Dakota, which was discontinued in 2011.
A rebadged Fiat Fullback, itself a lightly restyled Mitsubishi Triton, was subsequently sold in the Middle East and Africa as the Ram 1200 from 2016 to 2019.
Stellantis currently offers the Jeep Gladiator in this segment, though it’s a increasingly off-road focused vehicle that’s not targeted directly at the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.

Beyond its current 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, Ram moreover currently sells meaty utes – rebadged Fiat Toro and Strada models – in some Latin American markets.
Mr Koval previously told Autoblog the trademark could sell these outside of Latin America, perhaps in response to the success of the Ford Maverick in North America.
As noted above, a next-generation Dodge Durango SUV concept was moreover on exhibit at this dealer event in Las Vegas.
Current Dodge Durango
As with the mid-sized electric pickup concept, there aren’t any details or images of the SUV. It’s unclear if it will be combustion-powered or if it will be an electric vehicle (EV).
The current Durango dates when to 2010 and shares its underpinnings with the previous-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as the Mercedes-Benz ML.
Mr Dye told Automotive News the Durango concept was “representative of the waffly market” and “what people are looking for”.
