New Bentley 80 TOPS AI Cabin Features Revealed

May 07, 2026

I saw something last week that broke my brain. A Bentley without round headlights. A Bentley with three seats. A Bentley where the dashboard turns into a piece of wood when you are bored of screens.

The Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features are not just a spec sheet. They are a statement. The British brand just unveiled the EXP 15 concept at their new design studio in Crewe. And I have been reading every detail since.

Here is the thing. This is a concept car. Bentley will not sell this exact three-seat, three-door limousine. But the Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features inside this thing? They are coming to a production EV near you in 2026.

Let me walk you through what Bentley just revealed. How the AI works. Why the dashboard flips. And who will actually want this stuff when it hits showrooms.

What Is the Bentley EXP 15? (And Why You Should Care)

The EXP 15 is Bentley's design vision for their electric future . Unveiled in July 2025, this five-metre-long concept draws inspiration from the 1930 Speed Six "Blue Train" coupe. That car famously raced a luxury train from Cannes to Calais and won. Bentley loves that story.

But the EXP 15 is not a retro remake. Far from it.

The upright grille stays. That is a Bentley signature. But it is closed now. No engine needs cooling air. Instead, the grille has a backlit panel with a geometric pattern. The headlights are ultra-thin LED strips. No more round lamps.

The long bonnet remains. But under it? No V8. No W12. Just storage space for hand luggage . Two panels open like a clamshell to reveal what Bentley calls "the frunk."

This is a 100% electric vehicle. All-wheel drive. Long range. Fast charging over 350kW, which means 161km of range in just 6.5 minutes.

But the real story is inside.

The 80 TOPS AI Brain: What It Actually Does?

Here is the part that confused me at first. Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features refer to the processing power behind the user experience. 80 TOPS means 80 trillion operations per second.

That is a lot. For context, most luxury cars today run on 10-20 TOPS. Bentley is quadrupling that.

Why do you need that much power?

Because the EXP 15's cabin was designed entirely using virtual reality software . Customers can sit in a VR headset and experience different configurations before the car is even built. Materials. Lighting. Storage. Seat positions. All simulated in real time.

The AI then learns your preferences. It predicts what you want before you ask. Robin Page, Bentley's chief designer, explained it like this: "The car acts as an intelligent and thoughtful mix of a fabulous conductor and celebrated chef all rolled into one".

The Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features allow the digital elements to melt away when you do not need them. Or come to the fore when you do. No lag. No loading screens. No hunting through menus.

The Rotating Dashboard: Screen or No Screen?

This is my favourite feature.

Bentley already has a "Rotating Dashboard" in current models. A three-sided panel flips between a touchscreen, three analogue dials, or a seamless wood veneer.

The EXP 15 takes this further. The entire width of the dashboard can act as a digital interface. But when you switch it off, a veneered wood surface appears beneath the glass . No black rectangle ruining the aesthetic.

Darren Day, Head of Interior Design, put it bluntly: "We think people are going to get fed up with a fully digital experience and are pining for physical mechanical elements too".

He compared it to wearing a mechanical watch on one wrist and a digital watch on the other. You get the best of both worlds.

In the centre of the screen sits something Bentley calls the "Mechanical Marvel." It looks like a traditional clock. But its multiple illuminated fingers can show direction, battery charge, or just be a beautiful object to stare at.

This is not tech for tech's sake. This is tech that respects your attention.

The Three-Seat Layout: Luxury for the Special Few

Here is where Bentley gets weird. The EXP 15 has only three seats.

One driver seat. One rear seat behind the driver. And one passenger seat that slides, swivels, and reclines .

Why three seats? To allow greater relaxation and more storage for hand luggage or pets . Bentley already has four and five-seat vehicles. This concept is for "the special few."

The passenger seat can move to three positions:

  • Co-pilot mode – Slid forward next to the driver

  • Standard mode – Slid back to the rear for massive legroom

  • Relax mode – Fully reclined for napping

When the seat slides back, a concertina floor storage system reveals a space underneath. Your pet or hand luggage straps in there . No need to stop and open the boot.

The passenger seat also swivels 45 degrees outward. Step out facing the world. No clambering. No awkward exits. Bentley calls this "the art of arrival". They previously designed this feature for Her Majesty the Queen's personal car. Now it is for everyone.

Well, not everyone. For people who can afford a Bentley.

Materials: No Leather, But Lots of Wool and Silk

Sign of the times. Bentley is not bragging about leather in this concept.

Instead, they use a 100% wool textile from Fox Brothers. The same English weavers who invented thorn-proof cloth 250 years ago . The wool is dyed in a damson ombre effect. Fancy words for a purple-ish fade.

In the rear cabin, Gainsborough supplies a fine silk jacquard textile. Gainsborough has been a fabric supplier to the Queen since 1980.

Alongside these natural materials, Bentley uses 3D-printed titanium finishes and a new woven metal mesh called "Acrylic Couture." When illuminated, it creates radiant 3D effects within the dashboard.

The door cards feature back-lit materials behind cut veneers. Bentley's signature diamond quilt pattern glows from within.

Andrea Jensen, Head of Colour, Materials, Finish and Bespoke, explained: When you cut a diamond pattern out of the veneer and put jacquard silk or a hybrid mesh against it and light it up, you can create what we're calling an active 3D quilt.

This is not a car interior. This is a museum exhibit you can drive.

The Tailgate Party Feature

Open the rear hatch. Press a button. Two small seats deploy. A lamp turns on. A fridge slides out with chilled drinks. Bentley knows its customers like picnics. And horse races. And anything that involves parking in a nice field and drinking champagne.

The tailgate seats are not an afterthought. They are designed into the boot floor. The lamp is atmospheric, not functional. The fridge is real.

This is the kind of detail that makes Bentley owners smile.

Bentley EXP 15 Interior vs Production EV Coming 2026

Let me be clear. The EXP 15 is a concept. Bentley will not sell this exact car.

But the first production EV arrives in 2026. It will be an "urban luxury SUV" smaller than the current Bentayga. Positioned at the lower end of Bentley's price range. Closer to a Bentayga entry version than the higher-end Speed models.

Wayne Bruce, Bentley's PR chief, said this car "is completely different from traditional Bentleys." Even people who never considered an EV will look at it and be interested.

The production EV will borrow design elements from EXP 15. The rotating dashboard concept. The AI-driven user experience. The sustainable materials. The "art of arrival" seating.

But it will have four or five seats. Normal doors. And it will actually be for sale.

Who Owns Bentley Motors? (Quick Answer)

Since you asked. Bentley Motors is British. Founded in 1919. Based in Crewe, England.

But Volkswagen AG has owned Bentley since 1998. And since January 2022, Bentley has been part of the Audi Group . Audi took over the steering function for Bentley in March 2021.

So yes. A Bentley is still built in England by English craftspeople. But the parent company is German.

In 2025, Bentley reported its seventh consecutive year of profitability. Operating profit of €216 million. Revenue of €2.6 billion.

The Bentayga remains the best-selling model. But the new Supersports opened a new chapter. And the 2026 EV will open another.

Who Is This For? (Honest Opinion)

The Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features sound incredible on paper. But who actually needs 80 TOPS in a car?

Buyers who will love this:

  • Current Bentley owners who want the latest tech

  • Luxury EV buyers tired of Tesla's minimalism

  • People who value craftsmanship over range numbers

  • Anyone who has ever struggled to exit a low sports car gracefully

People who should wait:

  • Buyers on a budget (Bentley starts around $200,000 USD)

  • Anyone who prefers physical buttons over any screen

  • People who do not care about "the art of arrival"

Who should skip entirely:

  • Tech enthusiasts who want maximum range per dollar (buy a Lucid)

  • Families needing three rows of seats

  • Anyone who parks on the street

This is a car for people with driveways. And dogs. And picnic plans.

The Final Thoughts

The Bentley 80 TOPS AI cabin features in the EXP 15 concept show where ultra-luxury is heading.

More AI. More personalisation. More sustainable materials. Screens that disappear when you do not want them. Seats that help you exit with dignity.

The 2026 production EV will bring many of these ideas to real roads. And real driveways. And real tailgate parties.

Is it for everyone? No.

Is it fascinating? Absolutely.
